New England Math League
The math team recorded a score of 26 points at the sixth and final competition of the year. Barrington finished 15th in New England and placed 2nd in Rhode Island behind the Wheeler School. Congratulations to Vignesh Peddi for recording a perfect score of 6 points at the final competition. A special congratulations goes to Jessica Liang for accumulating a score of 33 out of a possible 36 points this season. Her score ranks her as one of the top 10 students in the history of BHS. Class winners for the year include the following:
Senior: Jessica Liang 33 points
Junior: Hannah Bai 21 points
Sophomore: Kamran Pahlavi 23 points
Freshman: Zachary Weinstein 26 points
Other high scorers for the season include: Yiming Xiong (25 points), Vignesh Peddi (23 points), Mitchell Salomon (21 points), and Athena Gao (21 points)
R.I. MATH LEAGUE STATE CHAMPIONS!
The BHS Math Team won its 19th state title in the past 22 years and extended its record over that time period to 332 – 20 – 3. Congratulations to A team members Jessica Liang, Mitchell Salomon, Hannah Bai, Kamran Pahlavi, and Vignesh Peddi for winning the state title.
The top 5 teams in the state and their results include the following:
Individual members of the Barrington team were presented with trophies for placing in the top 10 in the state. Eighth-grader Athena Gao had the highest score in the state and placed first with a score of 58 points. Kamran Pahlavi placed 4th and was the top sophomore in the state. Jessica Liang placed 5th and was the top senior in the state. Vignesh Peddi placed 6th, Yiming Xiong placed 8th, and Mitchell Salomon placed 9th in the state this year.
Twenty-three students participated on the math team this year. In addition to the A team members, a few of those 23 students deserve special recognition for making valuable contributions and showing dedication to the team. Those students include: Jackson Kustell, Lucy Dreier, Dawen Cheng, Aiden Hurlock, Sean Fearon, Dahlia Pahlavi, Connor Marley, Vineet Abbenini, San Min Park, Michelle Xian, Luke Andsager, Zachary Weinstein, and Maddox Godwin.

Important: BiNax testing is only for asymptomatic testing. If you are not feeling well, or have any symptoms, you should remain home and schedule a PCR test with the Rhode Island Department of Health at portal.ri.gov
